LP Steel Plates
LP (longitudinally profiled) steel plates change in thickness continuously across the length of the plate; i.e, their cross-section shape and thickness differs longitudinally. The benefits, which are increasingly being realized especially within the shipbuilding and bridge construction industries, include reduced weight, faster fabrication, lower costs and improved safety. LP plates provide enhanced structural safety by the removal of welded joints to less-stressed areas, reduction of welded joints, and optimized matching of steel crosssections to actual stresses. This has been especially important for stress reduction and structural safety in fatigue conditions.
