Sumitomo Metals has obtained a lot of actual results with respect to manufacturing steel plates for large-diameter welded steel pipes both inside and outside the company.
In addition, we provide a variety of steel plates, including those for line pipes with excellent weldability as well as sufficient strength and toughness, making the most of TMCP (thermo mechanical control process) so that customers‘ needs can be satisfied.
DAC (dynamic accelerated cooling process) is short for our TMCP.

High strength steel plates are available.
Use of high strength steel pipes makes extra-high pressure transportation of natural gas possible and enables pipe-line construction and natural gas supply costs to be reduced.
Sumitomo Metals is now able to mass produce steel plates up to X-80 in accordance with API (American Petroleum Institute) standards, and has also established manufacturing technology for X-100. |

Steel plates with excellent resistance to HIC (hydrogen induced cracking) are also available.
Sumitomo Metals can manufacture steel plates that prevent HIC caused by hydrogen sulfide. We manufacture such products by adding appropriate elements in the steelmaking process and making the best use of TMCP technology for our DAC equipment.
All grades of steel plates for line pipes in a sour environment are available. |
