Sumitomo Metal Industries, Ltd. has announced on February 23rd, 2010 that Yoshinari Ishizuka, Director and Senior Managing Executive Officer, will retire from his assignment on March 31st, 2010.

Please be noticed that his assignment after the retirement is as follows;

On April 1st, to be appointed as Advisor of SUMCO Corporation

On April 28th, to be appointed as Representative Director and Executive Vice President of SUMCO Corporation, pending approval at the General Shareholders Meeting of SUMCO Corporation on April 28th
