Sumitomo Metals was ranked No. 6 at the sixth Quality Management Survey conducted by the Union of Japanese Scientists and Engineers in 2010. This survey is conducted of 249 influential manufacturing and construction companies across Japan and evaluates 185 items concerning the approach to quality by management staff, conditions of on-site management, customer service, and other matters. This survey gave particularly high marks to Sumitomo Metals' new product development, quality training, and personnel development.
