Sumitomo Metals provides relief for large-scale disasters occurring in all parts of the world.
Following the Great East Japan Earthquake that occurred in March 2011, the Sumitomo Metals Group contributed a relief fund of 210 million yen for aid to those affected by the disaster and to help the recovery in the affected areas. In addition, we provided water, toilet paper, and other relief supplies to municipal governments in the areas surrounding the Kashima Steel Works.

The Sumitomo Foundation was established in 1991 for the purpose of contributing to the construction of a bountiful human society. It provides aid in the areas of basic science research; environmental research; protection, preservation, and restoration of cultural properties; and Japan-related research in various Asian countries. Sumitomo Metals has supported the Sumitomo Foundation through contributions since its beginning.
